Angels

The word 'angel' comes from the Greek, angelos, which means 'messenger'. Angels are celestial, non-physical beings who are believed to serve as messengers or
go-betweens of God.

The concept of angels originated in the ancient Middle East and has been incorporated (to varying degrees) into Judaism, Zoroastrianism, Christianity and Islam. There has also been widespread interest within New Age circles.

Angels are not humans who have died and then somehow been transmuted into spiritual guides — that idea has more in common with the notion of Ascended Masters, although it is a common confusion in recent years.

Angels are understood to form the lowest level of a hierarchy of powerful, celestial beings, with Archangels, Cherubim, and Seraphim above them in that order.
