Astral projection

Also known as astral travel, this is where someone deliberately separates their astral body to travel in a different level of existence, known as the astral plane.

While travelling on the astral plane, the astral body is said to remain in contact with the physical body by means of a 'golden cord', attached to the umbilicus (belly button).

It is really a kind of out-of-the-body experience (OBE), except astral projection is controlled, whilst OBEs may be spontaneous, occuring during surgery or an accident, for instance.
